Chattahoochee River Trail at The River ClubThe Chattahoochee River area has been a popular place for people to live and play for thousands of years. Its rich resources have attracted Indian nations, farmers, mill owners, and city dwellers seeking peace and relaxation. Today, the river corridor is being preserved as a National Recreation Area. And a great place to enjoy it is on the Chattahoochee River Trail at The River Club. Part of the National Park Service, this meandering 1.4 mile trail features multiple trail heads, stunning scenic overlooks, and benches for when you feel like taking a rest. Along the trail, you’ll be greeted by a variety of flora and fauna. River birches sway gracefully while oak, poplar, and hickory trees tower overhead. You’ll hear the call of great blue herons and the tapping of woodpeckers. You might even spy a deer or muskrat, or the tracks of a foraging raccoon. The river itself is teeming with 22 species of fish popular with anglers, including catfish, bass, and yellow perch. The Chattahoochee is a designated Georgia Trout Stream, so you’ll need a license and a trout stamp to fish. |
